His family was not wealthy. His parents worked hard and gave him a strong foundation: love, discipline, a sense of right and wrong, a belief that effort mattered. Before he had his own gear, he spent years visiting Pro Sound Music in Colorado, pressing keys on keyboards he could not afford to buy, developing an intuitive relationship with sound that would define his entire approach to music.

David and Jacque Lemieux gave their son a loan for his first pair of used Technics turntables and a Gemini Beat Down Mixer.

The mixer barely worked. The EQ was unreliable. The faders were inconsistent. The features that other mixers offered as standard were either broken or absent entirely. The invention of four original scratch techniques is one of the most significant and least-known chapters in DJ Natural Nate®'s career.

**The Bend Scratch** emerged from the musical saw question that had stayed with him since childhood. If a musician can physically bend a saw to change its pitch, could a DJ physically manipulate a record in the same way? The Bend Scratch involved carefully flexing portions of the vinyl while manipulating playback. The result was pitch fluctuations, harmonic distortion, unique tonal shifts, warbling sounds, and vocal-like expressions that were simply impossible to create through ordinary scratching. The sound resembled a musical saw, a violin pitch bend, a synthesizer modulation wheel, or a human voice sliding between notes. This technique worked particularly well with electro, breakbeat, bass music, and long synth tones.

**The Taco Scratch** pushed the concept further. By physically folding or curving the record into a shape resembling a taco shell, different sections of the vinyl could be manipulated simultaneously. The technique produced extreme pitch bends, sudden rises and drops, mechanical-sounding distortions, unpredictable modulation, and robotic-sounding scratches. It was never designed to be a battle scratch. Speed was not the goal. Competition was not the point. The Taco Scratch was performance art, experimental turntablism built around a single philosophical question: what sounds can a vinyl record make that nobody has heard yet?

**The Break Scratch** represented perhaps the most radical idea of the three. Instead of viewing a damaged record as unusable, DJ Natural Nate® experimented with broken and damaged vinyl sections to create entirely new sounds. The concept explored fragmented grooves, physical imperfections, unexpected playback behavior, and textural manipulation. Each performance became a one-time event. The roots of Bruise Your Body Breaks stretch back to approximately 1998.

After a particularly bass-heavy performance, a man came up to DJ Natural Nate® and showed him a bruise on his back, telling him that the bass had been hitting so hard during his set that the speakers and the bass physically bruised his body. In the early 2000s, despite possessing legitimate turntable skills and years of experience, DJ Natural Nate® found himself accused of being a "computer DJ."

Those accusations contributed to the loss of a major contract. The client believed he was using a computer to mix. He was not. But audio alone could not prove it.

Between 2007 and 2008, the live video DJ concept was tested on NuBreaks and Ustream, early streaming platforms that lacked the custom infrastructure needed to enforce the "Prove The Mix" standard.
