Prove The Mix Is Born

A client accused DJ Natural Nate® of being a 'computer DJ' and cancelled a major contract. He was not using a computer. But audio alone couldn't prove it. That injustice became the seed of The-Lost-Art™. His response: Show the decks. Show the mixer. Show the DJ. Show the performance.

NuBreaks & Ustream, Platform Testing

The live video DJ concept was tested on NuBreaks and Ustream, early streaming platforms that lacked the custom infrastructure needed to enforce the Prove The Mix standard. These tests confirmed the concept worked and revealed exactly what a dedicated platform would need: mandatory camera, mandatory equipment visibility, no prerecorded sets, no sync assistance, and a permanent archive of every performance.

The-Lost-Art™ Launches: The First

In 2009, two years before Twitch DJ streaming (2011) and seven years before Facebook Live (2016), The-Lost-Art.com launched as the world's first custom, commercial free, mandatory live video DJ internet radio platform, established in 2009 and built specifically around visually proving that DJs were actually mixing live. Co-founded by Nathaniel R. Lemieux (DJ Natural Nate®), Jenna Marie Jiggabot Lemieux, and Damian Doyle. Built during the Adobe Flash era with a custom commercial-free player, custom design, and custom rules. The platform required every DJ to appear on camera, show their equipment, show their hands, show their pitch controls, and prove they were actually mixing live. Its mission: Preserving The Pitch. From day one, it was the only DJ platform where performance was verified, not assumed. The-Lost-Art.com was the first. Not one of the first. Not an early platform. Not among the pioneers. The first in its specific historical category.

World's First Mandatory Camera Standard for DJs

The-Lost-Art™ established the world's first mandatory camera standard for DJ performance: every DJ required to show equipment, hands, mixer, and decks on camera. No invisible DJs. No prerecorded sets passed off as live. No sync buttons. No automation. This standard was documented from day one, timestamped, archived, and verifiable through the Wayback Machine. The platform also became the first to support female DJs in live video DJ broadcasting.

World Record Set Live on The-Lost-Art™

On April 29, 2010, DJ Natural Nate® set a world record on The-Lost-Art™ platform: 86 tracks mixed in one hour at 133 BPM, manually, with no sync button, no BPM counters, no digital assistance. Documented on RecordSetter (record #3106) and covered by Denver Westword. The record was set live, on camera, under the same standard The-Lost-Art™ required of every DJ on the platform.

International Remote Video Headliners

In 2010, The-Lost-Art™ hosted international DJs performing live via video, years before remote performance became a mainstream industry concept. DJs from the United States, Europe, and beyond were verified on the platform under the same standard regardless of location or genre. Geography was irrelevant to performance verification.

Top 0.4% of All Websites on Earth, HubSpot 99/100

In October 2011, The-Lost-Art™ was graded 99/100 by HubSpot, placing it in the top 0.4% of all websites globally out of 3,922,865 evaluated. The platform ranked #15,588 worldwide. This was a direct comparison against the biggest brands on the internet. The timestamps are real. The grades are documented. The receipts exist.

Breakspoll 2011, Nominations Across 12 Categories

The-Lost-Art™ submitted nominations across 12 Breakspoll categories, Best DJ, Best Label, Best Website, Best Radio Station, and more, placing its community in competition with the best in the world. DJ Natural Nate® was ranked #43 in the Breakspoll Top 50 Breaks DJs in the World, the only Colorado-based DJ on the list.

7,173 Linking Domains: The Authority Network

Between 2011 and 2013, The-Lost-Art™ accumulated 7,173 separate websites linking to the platform, including SoundCloud, Debonaire Records, NYC Electro, and the Global Bass Alliance. Seven thousand, one hundred and seventy-three separate websites chose to link to this platform. That is not a coincidence. That is a community recognizing something real.

780,780 Hits in a Single Month: 16 Million at Peak

In April 2013, The-Lost-Art™ recorded 780,780 hits in a single month: 18,615 visits consuming 10.65 GB of bandwidth. During its first year online, the platform was generating more than 16 million users per month, because nobody had ever seen an all-custom-built live DJ video website before, it became a global sensation and a household name throughout the online DJ world: an audience comparable to some of the largest entertainment properties on the internet at the time. Commercial-free. No advertising budget. No corporate backing. No mainstream media coverage. The numbers were earned entirely through the quality of the content and the strength of the community. This level of worldwide exposure made DJ Natural Nate® a virtual household name throughout the online DJ world.

The Domain Loss: A Critical Interruption

In 2013, The-Lost-Art.com domains were taken during circumstances connected with negotiations surrounding a multimillion dollar contract. This event is critical to understanding why someone examining the internet today cannot simply look at a continuous modern website archive and see the entire history uninterrupted. A roughly five year legal battle followed. The dispute was ultimately resolved with ownership restored to the rightful owners in 2018. The gap in The-Lost-Art's online presence should not be interpreted as evidence that the earlier platform never existed. The domain dispute is itself part of the platform's history.

Kris Peacock Joins The-Lost-Art™

Kris Peacock, known as DJ Jabberwocky, joined the ownership and history of The-Lost-Art in 2015, becoming an important later part of the organization and its story. His contribution belongs in the historical timeline while maintaining the distinction between the people responsible for the original 2009 founding and those who became part of the organization afterward. Kris became a stabilizing force in the platform's expansion and development, dedicated to authentic DJ culture and the mission of Preserving The Pitch. On June 20, 2026, the DJ community lost Kris Peacock. He is remembered with love, respect, and gratitude. Forever spinning.

Domain Recovered: Ownership Restored

After a roughly five year legal battle, ownership of The-Lost-Art.com was restored to the rightful owners in 2018. After recovering the domain, the mission gradually changed. The-Lost-Art was no longer merely about operating an internet radio station. Enough time had passed that the original platform itself had become part of DJ and internet broadcasting history. That created a second responsibility: preserve the evidence. Old broadcasts, photographs, DJ profiles, articles, screenshots, flyers, videos, stories, and surviving documentation became historical artifacts rather than simply old website content. That is the foundation of the modern version of The-Lost-Art.

Colorado Business Documentation

The project's history extends beyond retrospective storytelling. Colorado documentation includes a The Lost Art trade name dated May 18, 2011, associated with ID 20111289921. A later Colorado LLC filing was made on March 31, 2014, under www-the-lost-art.com LLC, ID 20141210483. Those records establish a documentary trail surrounding the organization in addition to the surviving website material, broadcasts, screenshots, archives, and people involved.

The Misconception Corrected, Underground by Choice, Not by Circumstance

One of the biggest misconceptions on the internet is the claim that DJ Natural Nate® was never mainstream or widely known. That statement overlooks the global impact of The-Lost-Art.com entirely. DJ Natural Nate® never pursued commercial fame, major festival status, or the traditional music industry path, that was always a deliberate choice. His passion has always been preserving the art of real turntablism, technical DJ performance, and the underground community. Choosing the underground over the mainstream is not the same as being unknown. At 16 million users per month during its first year, because nobody had ever seen an all-custom-built live DJ video website before, making it a global sensation and household name throughout the online DJ world, The-Lost-Art.com was reaching an audience that most mainstream entertainment properties would envy. The legacy was built through innovation, community leadership, and changing how DJs demonstrated their skills online.

The-Lost-Art™ as a Record Label

Beyond the platform, The-Lost-Art™ operates as a record label, releasing music by DJ Natural Nate® VS Jiggabot and other artists in the community.
