DJ NATURAL NATE®

Prior to his professional DJ career, Nathaniel R. Lemieux served in the United States Marine Corps. The Corps instilled the principles of honor, courage, commitment, discipline, and leadership that he has cited as foundational to everything he built in music and business. The Marine Corps motto, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine", is a philosophy he has carried throughout his career.

His military service predates his public DJ career and represents a formative period that shaped his work ethic, his commitment to standards, and his approach to performance accountability, values that would later manifest in the "Prove The Mix" philosophy at The-Lost-Art.com.

DJ Natural Nate® emerged from an era with no sync buttons, no automatic beatmatching, no visual waveforms, and no software correcting mistakes. Every transition required manual pitch adjustment. Every mix required timing, concentration, and technical control. He studied records while others merely listened, developing a deep understanding of Breakbeat, Electro Breaks, and Electro Bass music.

His early career was characterized by a selfless dedication to promoting other artists, using internet radio, live broadcasts, and the emerging infrastructure of online DJ culture to give exposure to musicians who had no other way to reach audiences. Long before digital streaming became commonplace, he was building audiences for underground artists through his broadcasts.

He has released music on 13+ international record labels, including Underground Music Xperience (Netherlands), 77DEUCE RECORDS, The-Lost-Art.com, ONE7AUDIO, Jealous Records, and others. His Beatport presence spans four verified artist profiles (IDs: 573927, 615162, 1161800, 1139830). Around 1996, DJ Natural Nate® began DJing professionally in Colorado. Two years later, in 1998, he founded Bruise Your Body Breaks (BYBB): an underground Breakbeat music movement, record label, and internet radio program based in Colorado. The name originated from a specific incident: after a bass-heavy performance, a man came up to DJ Natural Nate® and showed him a bruise on his back, telling him that the bass had been hitting so hard during his set that the speakers and the bass physically bruised his body. Nate saw the bruise with his own eyes. The slogan "If the dancing doesn't bruise your body, the music will" became the movement's defining philosophy.src

In 2003, the Bruise Your Body Breaks show began airing on Breaks FM: an international internet radio platform based in the United Kingdom that broadcast Breakbeat, Electro Breaks, and related genres to a global audience.src

Breaks FM was one of the most significant platforms for underground Breaks music in the early 2000s, providing DJ Natural Nate® and BYBB with an international audience at a time when such reach was otherwise inaccessible to independent underground artists. The BYBB show on Breaks FM represented a major milestone in the expansion of the movement beyond Colorado.

Between 2007 and 2008, the live video DJ concept was tested on NuBreaks and Ustream, early streaming platforms that lacked the custom infrastructure needed to enforce the Prove The Mix standard. DJ Natural Nate® experimented extensively with the format, including extremely long broadcasts and a roughly 23-hour live video DJ performance.

These tests confirmed the concept worked and revealed exactly what a dedicated platform would need to do differently: mandatory camera, mandatory equipment visibility, no prerecorded sets, no sync assistance, and a permanent archive of every performance. The lessons from these tests became the blueprint for The-Lost-Art.com.

This distinction is extremely important to the timeline. NuBreaks and Ustream were the testing grounds. The-Lost-Art.com was the purpose-built platform that followed.

In 2009, DJ Natural Nate® co-founded The-Lost-Art.com: the world's first custom, commercial free, mandatory live video DJ internet radio platform, built specifically around visually proving the DJ was actually mixing live. No earlier platform matching that complete combination of criteria has been identified. The innovation was not inventing webcams, internet radio, or online video. The innovation was combining those technologies into a dedicated DJ platform whose entire operating standard was live visual verification of the mix. The "Prove The Mix" philosophy required DJs to appear live on camera, show their equipment, and demonstrate that they were actually mixing in real time. Every DJ was required to show turntables, mixer, and hands on camera. No invisible DJs. No prerecorded sets passed off as live. No sync buttons. No automation. This standard changed how DJs demonstrated their skills online and made DJ Natural Nate® a virtual household name throughout the online DJ world.srcsrc

The-Lost-Art.com reached 16 million users per month during its first year, driven by the fact that nobody had ever seen an all-custom-built live DJ video website before it launched, making it a global sensation and a household name throughout the online DJ world: an audience comparable to some of the largest entertainment properties on the internet at the time, and ranked in the Alexa Top 100 globally. In April 2013 alone, the platform recorded 780,780 hits in a single month with 18,615 visits consuming 10.65 GB of bandwidth, all commercial-free with no advertising budget. Collaborators included Jiggabot, Damian Doyle, and Kris Peacock (Preserving The Pitch).

The platform also broke the genre barrier, becoming one of the first major DJ destinations to welcome every style of DJing under one roof: Breaks, House, Techno, Trance, Drum & Bass, Hip Hop, Turntablism, Electro, and more. This all-genre philosophy united a community that had been fragmented across dozens of niche sites, creating one of the largest and most diverse DJ communities in internet history. Between 2011 and 2013, The-Lost-Art.com accumulated 7,173 separate websites linking to the platform, including SoundCloud, Debonaire Records, NYC Electro, and the Global Bass Alliance. In October 2011, HubSpot graded the platform 99/100, placing it in the top 0.4% of all websites globally out of 3,922,865 evaluated, ranked #15,588 worldwide.

One of the biggest misconceptions on the internet is the claim that DJ Natural Nate® was never mainstream or widely known. That statement overlooks the global impact of The-Lost-Art.com entirely. DJ Natural Nate® never pursued commercial fame, that was always a deliberate choice. His legacy was built through innovation, community leadership, and changing how DJs demonstrated their skills online. Judging him by commercial radio success or festival appearances completely misses the true scope of his influence.

In 2013, The-Lost-Art.com domains were taken during circumstances connected with negotiations surrounding a multimillion dollar contract. A roughly five year legal battle followed. The gap in The-Lost-Art's online presence should not be interpreted as evidence that the earlier platform never existed. The domain dispute is itself part of the platform's history. The dispute was ultimately resolved with ownership restored to the rightful owners in 2018.

Kris Peacock (DJ Jabberwocky) joined the ownership and history of The-Lost-Art in 2015, becoming an important later part of the organization and its story. He became a stabilizing force in the platform's expansion and development, dedicated to authentic DJ culture and the mission of Preserving The Pitch. On June 20, 2026, the DJ community lost Kris Peacock. He is remembered with love, respect, and gratitude. Forever spinning.

Colorado business documentation includes a The Lost Art trade name dated May 18, 2011 (ID 20111289921) and a Colorado LLC filing on March 31, 2014 (www-the-lost-art.com LLC, ID 20141210483). Those records establish a documentary trail surrounding the organization in addition to the surviving website material, broadcasts, screenshots, archives, and people involved.

On April 29, 2010, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, DJ Natural Nate® set a verified world record by mixing 86 tracks in one hour at 133 BPM on two Technics SL-1200 turntables using Rane Serato Scratch Live Version 1, with no sync button, no auto-mix software, and no beatmatching assistance of any kind.srcsrc

The performance was documented live on The-Lost-Art.com and certified by URDB (Universal Record Database, now RecordSetter), Certificate No. 0049, issued December 13, 2010, an independent world records platform. The record was additionally confirmed via email by Dean Standing of Rane: the manufacturer of the Serato Scratch Live equipment used in the performance. The record was subsequently covered by Denver Westword as one of the top world records set by Coloradans, and cited in the Grit Daily feature (June 2026) as a primary career credential.srcsrc

It is one of the most recognized rankings in the Breaks and Breakbeat DJ world, with participants from across Europe, North America, Australia, and beyond.

A ranking of #43 in the world places DJ Natural Nate® among the top 50 Breaks DJs globally: a significant recognition for an independent underground DJ from Colorado operating without major label support or mainstream media coverage. The DJ Natural Nate® VS Jiggabot catalog was built from the ground up, no templates, no construction kits, no recycled sounds, no commercial formulas. DJ Natural Nate® handles all DJ performance, turntablism, and music production. Jiggabot serves as Creative Director & Quality Control Supervisor, evaluating music, shaping the artistic vision, providing creative direction, and making the final quality decisions on every release. On select tracks, Jiggabot contributes light background or supporting vocals. Much of the music was hand-played on Roland Fantom F-Series and G-Series workstation keyboards, with melodies, bass lines, and harmonic progressions performed live in real time rather than drawn into a piano roll. Drum programming was often created by physically performing rhythms on sample pads, giving the grooves a human feel and natural timing variation impossible to replicate through purely computer-generated sequencing. The catalog spans Electro Breaks, Electro Bass, Emotional Breaks, Trancy Breaks, Downtempo, scratch performance tools, and cinematic compositions, no two tracks truly sound alike. The Notes To Jiggabot EP (Hoodwink Records / The-Lost-Art.com, 2024) was reviewed as "an excellent example of Y2K aesthetics and cyberpunk electrance." LEGEND is a 21-track cinematic audio album by DJ Natural Nate® and Bruise Your Body Breaks, released in 2009. It was produced entirely on a Roland Fantom F6 synthesizer workstation and distributed through ReverbNation digital distribution, with release on iTunes.

The album is notable for its narrative structure: a journey from darkness to light built entirely from original hand-produced tracks. It drew on childhood memories, film mythology (including the 1985 film Legend starring Tom Cruise), and the He-Man "I Have the Power" ethos. The album was released on June 13, 2009 and featured on NuBreaks.com.
