B.Y.B.B. Bangers Vol. 4

B.Y.B.B. Bangers Vol. 4 expanded the compilation series into three-way collaborative territory, bringing together DJ Natural Nate®, Mike Devious, and Jiggabot on a single release for the first time. Released on May 20, 2016 through Underground Dance Music, just seven weeks after B.Y.B.B. Bangers 2, Vol. 4 demonstrated the creative momentum that the series had generated. The addition of Jiggabot to the roster was significant: it connected the BYBB Bangers series to the broader Nate/Jiggabot collaborative universe that had been developing since Love Letters in Sound, creating a bridge between the compilation format and the duo's ongoing creative partnership.

The five tracks on B.Y.B.B. Bangers Vol. 4 reflected the expanded creative palette that three producers brought to the project. The "Into the Blue Zone" and "Out of the Blue Zone" tracks, bookending the compilation, suggested a conceptual arc, a journey through sonic space that gave the release a coherent identity beyond a simple collection of individual tracks. Mike Devious contributed "Turn Me On" and "Let's Go," maintaining his presence in the series while the standout collaborative track "Sky Watcher Part 1" (DJ Natural Nate vs Jiggabot) pointed toward the more ambitious collaborative work that would follow in subsequent years.

"Sky Watcher Part 1" deserves particular attention as a document of the Nate/Jiggabot creative partnership at a specific moment in its development. The track's title, with its explicit "Part 1" designation, suggested that this was the beginning of a longer narrative, a theme that would be revisited and expanded. Indeed, the Sky Watcher concept would reappear in the Test of Time Anthology (2021) as "Sky Watcher 2 - Past The Sky" and "Sky Watcher Intro 1," confirming that the theme had genuine longevity in the Nate/Jiggabot creative vocabulary. Vol. 4 thus functions not just as a standalone compilation but as an early chapter in a larger artistic story.

The rapid release schedule of the B.Y.B.B. Bangers series in 2016, Vol. 2 in March, Vol. 4 in May, reflected a period of intense creative productivity for DJ Natural Nate and his collaborators. The Underground Dance Music label's Bandcamp infrastructure made this kind of rapid release cadence possible: without the lead times required for physical distribution or major label approval processes, the artists could move from completed tracks to released compilation in a matter of weeks. This agility was characteristic of the independent electronic music ecosystem of the mid-2010s, and the B.Y.B.B. Bangers series took full advantage of it.
